The pictures were stored on a PNY 2GB Flash drive (it had a FAT16 format). The Mac OS saw & mounted the flash drive, and even showed the folder. Sadly, that was ALL that the OS could do. Attempts to copy failed, Disk Utility was useless, and even Data Rescue II (version 1.1) was no help. So began the quest for ANYTHING that could recover the photos (Mom, Granny & the newborn ... pretty important stuff). Stellar Phoenix Photo Recovery found nothing. We skipped Disk Warrior (we didn't want to modify the drive, possibly making it worse!), and Norton has been a disaster since version 4.2. Normally I'd give up if Data Rescue failed. But while checking the FAQ's & Support, I found Picture Rescue! After downloading & running the demo, the 434 irreplaceable photos were back (almost)! Buying/activating the program could not have been easier, and within 5 minutes the photos were safely recovered. Thanks again for the great recovery products! Douglas Pease |
